Abe Akanmu founded Pivot Kings Consulting to serve and empower male athletes, helping them maximize their potential in sports and navigate life transitions with confidence. Guided by the mantra “Excellence within and beyond the game,” Abe created a platform to address the unique challenges male athletes face—particularly the lack of preparation for life after sports—and broaden his impact.

Abe, originally from Staten Island, New York, is currently based in Dallas, Texas. A former college basketball player whose career was cut short by injury, he experienced firsthand the difficulties of pivoting to a new career. Through resilience and leveraging the soft skills developed in sports, he built a successful career in education, rising to Executive Director of School Operations & Athletics at Trinity Basin Preparatory. His journey shaped his passion for mentoring athletes and connecting them to experts who can guide their development both on and off the field.

In addition to leading Pivot Kings Consulting, Abe is also the author of the children’s book Brand New Shoes, a PhD student, and a devoted husband and father of three boys, ages 4, 2, and 1. Balancing family, education, and entrepreneurship, Abe brings a unique perspective to every interaction, grounded in purpose and excellence.

With over 18 years of coaching experience, 14 years of consulting expertise, and a proven track record of helping athletes secure athletic scholarships and professional contracts, Abe brings a wealth of knowledge and excellence to every client he serves. His mission is to shift the status quo, equipping athletes to excel in their sport and prepare for life beyond the game.
